The Folsom Public Library Reading Buddies program provides opportunities for children in kindergarten through third grade to practice reading at the library. With the help of Teen Reading Buddies, who are volunteers in the Library’s Teen Library Council, kids can practice reading aloud and work to improve reading skills with supportive and caring listeners.

Children read with a Buddy for up to 30 minutes at a time. Kids can choose their own books to read at the library with their Buddy, who will listen, help sound out words and assist with comprehension. Pre-readers can choose books to listen to as their Reading Buddy reads to them! Buddies meet once a week in the afternoon for up to 30 minutes of one-on-one shared reading.
