Community Service Officer
Community Service Officers (CSOs) serve a vital role in the Folsom Police Department.
Our CSOs are non-sworn members of the police department. They perform a variety of duties as part of their assignment, including, but not limited to:
- Investigating criminal, non-criminal, and non-hazardous incidents not requiring the presence of a sworn officer
- Assisting and completing crime scene investigations
- Interviewing victims and witnesses and recording statements
- Testifying in court
- Receiving, recording, analyzing and storing property and evidence acquired by the Folsom Police Department for safekeeping and custody
- Assisting the Community Crime Suppression Unit with camp postings and abatement
- Providing and directing applicable service to those experiencing homelessness
- Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- No law enforcement experience required, but is preferred
- Possession of a California driver's license
- All qualified candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete the following trainings within the probationary period:
- POST approved Community Service Officer Academy
- CPR Certificate
- In Service Officer Safety Tactics
- Crime Scene Investigations Course
- Cal-Photos and Cal-ID Operations
