On Tuesday, February 25, the Folsom City Council unanimously approved an ordinance establishing reduced speed limits on Greenback Lane, Prairie City Road, and Riley Street, based on traffic study findings presented by the Folsom Public Works Department.

Speed limits will be reduced on three major roadways:

  • Greenback Lane, Madison Avenue to Folsom Auburn Road, from 50 mph to 45 mph
  • Prairie City Road, Highway 50 to Iron Point Road, from 50 mph to 45 mph
  • Riley Street, Rainbow Bridge to East Bidwell Street, from 35 mph to 30 mph
  • Speed limits are based on an Engineering and Traffic Study for Speed Zoning (ETS), which assesses roadway conditions, land uses alongside a given roadway, and collision history.

The new speed limits will take effect this spring. For more information, contact Engineering Manager Mark Rackovan at mrackovan@folsom.ca.us or 916-461-6711.
