The 12th annual Community Service Day will mobilize hundreds of volunteers of all ages Saturday, September 20, 2025, to complete projects throughout Folsom that will benefit all sectors of the community. The effort is organized by the City of Folsom and numerous Folsom businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders.

Since its inception, Community Service Day has made a lasting impact on the community with these impressive statistics:

  • 20,800+ volunteers giving back to the Folsom community
  • 590,000+ pounds of food collected for the Twin Lakes Food Bank
  • 930+ projects completed for schools, parks, nature preserves, trails, the Folsom Public Library, the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, and local service organizations
  • 570+ exterior home repairs and maintenance projects completed for Folsom's senior citizens
  • Thousands of care packages assembled for active duty military service members
  • Thousands of donated items collected for local nonprofits including bicycles, eyeglasses, shelter pet supplies, toiletries, holiday gifts, and more

Citywide Food Drive September 21
Bags Out by 8 a.m.

Folsom’s Community Service Day includes a citywide food drive to benefit the Twin Lakes Food Bank. Volunteers will drop off empty grocery bags and a list of needed nonperishable, unexpired food items to every household in Folsom. Place your filled bag on your driveway before 8 a.m. Saturday, September 21 for volunteers to pick up. Please place your bags in front of your home by 8 a.m. Saturday.  

Top needed items:  

  • Cereal 
  • Canned tuna 
  • Canned chicken 
  • Canned ravioli 
  • Pasta and pasta sauce 
  • Canned fruit and vegetables 
  • Pasta / Rice-A-Roni  
  • Instant mashed potatoes 

Your donation will directly support the Twin Lakes Food Bank and local families in need.

Blood Drive

As part of Folsom Community Service Day, Vitalant will host a community blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21 at Folsom Fire Station 35, 535 Glenn Drive, Folsom.

Schedule an appointment online in advance. Walk-ins are also welcome and will be accommodated as space allows. All donors will receive a special Vitalant donor T-shirt!

Donation Drive

Local organizations are collecting needed items from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 21. Donations can be dropped off at the drive-through at Lakeside Church, 745 Oak Avenue Parkway.

Items collected for local community organizations include:

·       Yarn and Fabric

·       Happy Smiles Toy Drive 

·       Purses, Makeup, and Jewelry 

·       Shelter Pet Supplies 

·       Hygiene Products

·       Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies 

·       New and Gently Used Coats
