Folsom Launches Residential Solar and Energy Storage Permit Portal

Post Date:10/25/2024 7:32 a.m.

The City of Folsom announces the launch of its new Instant Solar Permitting Portal, streamlining the permitting process for residential solar and battery storage systems. Powered by Symbium, the platform automates real-time code compliance checks, allowing for faster and more efficient permit issuance for homeowners.

The new system expedites the permitting process for solar energy systems, reduces costs, and ensures that all applications meet safety and regulatory standards. Residential photovoltaic and battery system permits will be issued within 24 hours of application, provided the necessary approval documents are submitted.

The new system supports Folsom's commitment to reducing energy emissions and aims to lower per-capita nonrenewable energy usage. It also complies with SB 379, a California law requiring cities and counties to implement platforms that streamline code compliance checks and automate the permit process for residential solar and energy storage systems. This effort aligns with California's goal of achieving 100% clean electricity by 2035.
