Join us for storytimes featuring books about a variety of animals. Our volunteer docents enhance the storytelling and engage young audience members with animal puppets. The books used for storytimes are appropriate for ages 4+, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Tuesday Storytime at the Folsom Historic District

Storytime at the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary

When: 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month (note: does not meet in November and December.

Where: on the canid patio (inside the zoo sanctuary); in the event of rain, we move to the Barnyard Experience

Campers can explore the wonders of wildlife through crafts, songs and hands-on interaction with some of our outreach animals. After three days of wildlife fun, each child will graduate with a new appreciation of the animal world. Parents are invited to watch a performance of the camp song on the last day of camp. Each child will take home a booklet with photos of their camp activities. Snack provided daily. This camp meets at the Folsom Library.

Each week of camp includes new and different activities. Join us for multiple weeks to enhance your camp experience. Morning may include typical daily zoo keeping tasks like cleaning exhibits and preparing animal diets. Campers will take part in hands-on activities and create enrichment for the animals, such as making giant frozen ice pops, hand-made piñatas, and special puzzles with treats. While the animals are locked safely in their dens, campers will be escorted to place the enrichment treats and toys into the animal enclosures. When zookeepers release the animals back into their exhibits, campers get to watch the animals discover their special treats. Camp activities are subject to change based on the needs of animals, weather conditions, and other factors.

This advanced camp provides an introduction to more of the zoo sanctuary’s animal residents. Campers will learn about domestic and wild animal behavior, animal training techniques, animal health and caregiving. Activities include making enrichment toys for the animals, cleaning enclosures, preparing diets and interacting with the animals. We’ll also explore some of the conservation efforts taking place in the world and learn how to be good stewards of the environment.
